Frequently Asked Questions

Premier Laser Hair Removal with Candela Gentlelase.
At Thérapie we strive to deliver the most up to date and efficient laser hair removal system available on the market.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: Prices for Candela Gentlelase laser hair removal may vary depending on the area to be treated. Following your free consultation with one of our highly qualified and professional laser therapists, you will be guaranteed to be quoted the most competitive price but with the exceptional service to match!

Q: Are you being sold Laser treatments when the machine is actually a low powered IPL?

A: Beware - many salons and clinics offer IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and are technically not lasers at all. These are generally much lower powered machines, and therefore less effective than Medical Lasers. The unsettling thing is – with the lack of regulation in Ireland, anyone can buy a low powered machine and claim they are offering true laser hair removal. These machines do, at best, a poor job, and in the wrong hands can cause quite a lot of damage. It’s VITAL you find out what their equipment actually is, so ask! Make sure the Clinic only uses medical lasers that have the FDA stamp of approval, as this means they are proven to work.

Q: What can I expect on the day of my treatment?

A: The treatment is performed by a highly qualified laser technician. It is extremely fast, a little uncomfortable, but easier than waxing! The area may feel a little warm, so we recommend applying aloe vera after. Avoid any heat for the next 24 hs (showers, steam rooms, excessive exercise, etc.)It is also essential to use an SPF througout the course of your treatment, especially in the summer months. At Thérapie we have a wide range of sun products available.

Q: How tanning or false tan can affect your treatment

A: All laser hair removal candidates should be at their lightest skin tone on the day of each treatment. Having even the slightest tan on the area to be treated can put you at risk of an adverse reaction to your laser hair removal treatment.

Please note if you attend your appointment with a tan present on the area, your therapist will be unable to proceed with the treatment.

Q: How many treatments are required?

A: Every treatment, like every patient, is unique. Your laser practitioner will decide what is best for you based on your needs and expectations. As laser is a progressive treatment, multiple sessions are required, a minimun of 6 treatments is generally recommended depending on the area to be treated. While results vary from client to client, maintenance treatments may be required. Each treatment takes place every 4-10 weeks depending on the area and how many treatments you have. The human body is not an exact science; this is why the amount of treatments required and results can vary from one client to another.

Q: Can I continue to wax in between treatments?

A: There is no need for any method of hair removal between treatments. That means no waxing, threading or tweezing as this will disturb the normal hair growth pattern. Bleaching is also put of the question, as this will remove the pigment from the hair leaving nothing for the laser to be attracted to. Only shaving is recommended.

Pain Free Laser Hair Removal

SopranoXL is unique because its pain-free process works in motion, with innovative SHR technology and a sweeping technique that eliminates the common problem of missed or skipped spots. The comprehensive coverage means smooth legs, arms, backs and faces for all your patients—without the pain. In fact, patients have even compared the SHR experience to a soothing hot stone massage.

Hair Types, Skin Types and Treatment Areas

Due to the latest advancements in technology almost all hair types are now treatable with laser. Many of the older machines from yesterday's technology could not target hair types that had lower levels of pigment (colour) within them. Thankfully nowadays finer and fairer (this does not include blonde hair) hair can treated successfully with lasers so long as there is some level of pigment present, and although the success of these treatments can vary when compared to darker hair types, due to the lack of pigment within the hair, the results are generally quite satisfactory.

How the SopranoXL works

For hair removal, the SopranoXL uses a gold standard 810 nm diode laser and combines it with exclusive IN-Motion™ technology. Energy penetrates deep into the dermis with high average power and a rapid 10 pulse-per-second repetition rate.
